Truth and Myth about Popular Diets
Aliso Viejo Weight Loss Says:
Diet: The Blood Type Diet
Overview: Written by Dr. Peter J D'Adamo, the Blood Type Diet theorizes that people with different blood types should eat different foods. This all stems from our ancestry, as different blood types evolved based on whether we were hunters, gatherers, etc. Eating foods that are healthier for your blood type will promote weight loss and an overall greater feeling of well-being.
The major keys: Focuses on healthy foods, but it changes the recommended foods and recipes based on your blood type.
Fountain Valley Weight Loss Clinic asks:
What do you see as the major strengths of this weight loss plan?
It's interesting and may trigger some thinking about diets. Other than that I don't think there are any redeeming quality to this diet.
Fountain Valley Weight Loss Clinic asks:
What are the weaknesses of this weight loss plan?
The basic premise of the diet is that blood types evolve at different times and the author has divided them into the following: type O's are the dominant, hunter-caveman type that require meat in the diet, type A's are docile vegetarians, while type B's are dairy-eating omnivores. There is absolutely no scientific basis for these claims. Furthermore there may be potential nutritional deficit issues because it restricts way too many nutrients.
Fountain Valley Weight Loss Clinic asks:
If followed closely, is this a weight loss plan that will work for users? Why?
If followed closely, it may potentially help with weight loss in the short term as it is a very limiting diet and tends to be low in calories. In the long term it does not work and my actually present with nutritional deficits.
Fountain Valley Weight Loss Clinic asks:
Is this a practical weight loss plan for most people in their everyday lives? Why or why not?
This is not a practical weight loss plan as it is way too limiting. Also maybe dangerous and has no scientific backing.
